Moots Introduces Race

Titanium bike brand Moots announced the launch of its new gravel race bike, the Routt CRD (Complete Race Design). According to the company, the new model incorporates all the knowledge acquired over ten years of creating versatile gravel bikes. It’s targeted at gravel racers, optimizing speed over diverse and rough surfaces, while still promising the classic Moots ride quality.

The Routt CRD is designed to improve efficiency around the bottom bracket (BB) and dropouts while offering lighter tubing in the seat stays and top tube to enhance the rider’s comfort during long rides. It is optimized around 40-42c tires and has additional clearance. The company describes it as blending race inclinations, all-day comfort, and long-term durability.

The bike uses the company’s Race Super Light (RSL) titanium tube set for weight reduction. It also features updated 3D printed dropouts and a brake mount that aligns the back end for rapid acceleration and accurate tracking over rough terrains. The bike has a threaded T47 bottom bracket, giving it broad crankset compatibility.

For further adaptability, the Routt CRD is now compatible with Universal Derailleur Hanger (UDH) for current and next-gen groupset accommodation. The front end boasts an all-new integrated cockpit of Moots Own Design (MOD) along with an enhanced version of Moots’ well-known gravel fork, leading to a neat look with no visible wires or hoses.

The Routt CRD is offered in three build options – the Peloton, Peloton 1x, and Podium, retailing for $11,999, $13,999, and $15,549 respectively. The frameset, handlebars, stem and bottom bracket with no groupset has an MSRP of $8,888. The different builds have variations in their groupsets, wheels, seatposts, and bars/stems.

Moots also gave a sneak peek into their carbon component line with the announcement of the MOD Components. However, they are currently only available on Moots Bikes, with further details about pricing and availability forthcoming.

The MOD Component line includes stems, handlebars, and a gravel fork. The MOD Stems are available in lengths ranging from 70mm to 120mm, with a 35mm bar clamp diameter and internal routing interface. The MOD Handlebar comes in various widths from 40cm to 46cm and features a 35mm bar clamp diameter and internal routing ports. The MOD Gravel Fork offers clearance for up to a 50mm tire and has fully internal brake hose routing.
